Refines

Error

Refine consumed by Breakdown requirement not System Concept - ID 37

The only requirements that can consume a refine in the Breakdown tree are those with Requirement type "System concept". In this report you will see all of the requirements with erroneous type that receive refines in the Breakdown tree.

How to correct it?

Identify the Breakdown System Concept requirement that consumes the refine in the view  "2.1 Define requirements". Once identified, erase the refine from its erroneous Breakdown consumer, and have the identified Breakdown "System Concept" requirement consume the refine (you may alternatively drag and drop the refine to its correct consumer).

Refine produced by unallowed requirement type (High level, Title) - ID 38

Refines can only be produced by a True requirement (i.e. Functional requirement).

How to correct it?
Move the refine under a True requirement or change the type of the parent to Functional requirement.

Warning

Refine consumed by Stakeholder requirement or Enabling System requirement - ID 40

Stakeholder or enabling system requirements cannot consume refines. This report will include all of the refines that are erroneously consumed by a Stakeholder or Enabling System requirement.

How to correct it?

For both Stakeholder and Enabling System consumers of refine: Identify the refine's correct consumer -
  • Once identified, erase the refine from its consumer and have it consumed by the correct object.

  • If a correct consumer is not identified, it can be asumed that the refine was mistakenly created. Proceed to erase the refine whatsoever from its consumer and producer.

For Enabling System requirements consumer of the refine: Enabling Systems can directly consume refines. In most cases, when an Enabling System requirement consumes a refine, it is actually the Enabling System that should directly consume the refine. If this is the case, erase the refine from its consumer and have it directly consumed by the Enabling System (that contains the original consuming requirement).

Stakeholder/Enabling System - Refines

Error

Refine directly consumed by a Stakeholder - ID 39

Stakeholders cannot consume refines, neither directly nor indirectly (through a Stakeholder requirement). This report will include all of the refines that are erroneously directly consumed by a Stakeholder.

How to correct it?

Identify the refine's correct consumer:
  • Once identified, erase the refine from its consumer and have it consumed by the correct object (an Enagling System or another internal system's "System concept" requirement).

  • If a correct consumer is not identified, it can be asumed that the refine was mistakenly created. Proceed to erase the refine whatsoever from its consumer and producer.

Refine produced by a High level - Title in a Stakeholder - ES - ID 42

Only true (Stakeholder or Enabling System) requirements can produce a refine. If Stakeholder or Enabling System requirements are tagged with "High level" or "Title" requirement type, and they produce a refine, they will appear in this report.

How to correct it?

Only Stakeholder and Enabling System's true requirements can produce a refine. Identify the refine's correct producer (only true requirement) and erase it from its producer. Then have the correct true requirement produce the refine.

Warning

Refine produced directly by a Stakeholder or Enabling System - ID 44

Stakeholders cannot directly produce refines. If they do, they will appear in this report.

How to correct it?

Only Stakeholder and Enabling System's true requirements can produce a refine. It is highly likely that the requirement's correct producer is a requirement of the Stakeholder or Enabing System in question. Identify the refine's correct producer (only true requirement) and erase it from its producer. Then have the correct true requirement produce the refine.
